Rusal bremst die Talfahrt und scheint sich zu stabilisieren.
Die Frage der Fragen ist also, wann erholt sich der Alu-Markt - das wissen wohl nur einige Leute weltweit - ich für meinen Teil bin nun eingestiegen. Rusal ist nun lange schlecht gelaufen, auch andere Alu-Unternehmen haben geblutet, andere wiederum nicht.
Der Verlust ist um mehr als die Hälfte gesunken, nun nicht die Gold-Nachricht schlechthin, aber immerhin ein Anfang und ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung.
Als größter Produzent von Aluminium und russisches Schwergewicht in der hinkenden Metallbranche sind sie m.M.n. einer von denen, die den Ton angeben könnten wenn sie möchten. Aluminium ist nun seit 2011 um mehr als 35% gefallen, eine Erholung wäre dringend nötig. Nicht nur für Rusal sondern die gesamte Branche.
Ich tippe 2014 auf eine Erholung und bin nun mit von der Partie :-)

Moskau Im Spannungsfeld einer global schleppenden Wirtschaft und von Überkapazitäten in der eigenen Branche hat sich der weltgrösste Aluminiumproduzent, UC Rusal, im dritten Quartal etwas besser gehalten. Der Konzern des russischen Magnaten Oleg Deripaska reduzierte den Reinverlust von Juli bis September auf 172 Mio. $. Das ist weniger als die Hälfte dessen, was im zweiten Quartal angefallen war. Gegenüber der Vorjahresperiode verschlechterte sich die Kennzahl allerdings grob in ähnlichem Masse. Wie gross die Herausforderungen sind, illustriert ferner, dass sich seit Januar ein Verlust von 611 Mio. $ angesammelt hat – mehr als fünfmal mehr als im Vorjahreszeitraum. Es werde noch lange dauern, bis der Markt sich erhole, hielt Deripaska am Dienstag im Communiqué fest.

(shareribs.com) Sydney 18.02.14 - Der US-Aluminiumproduzent Alcoa plant die Schließung einer Aluminium-Hütte im australischen Point Henry. Zudem ist die Schließung zwei Walzanlagen geplant.
Das Unternehmen teilte mit, dass die Schließung der Hütte in Point Henry zu einem Rückgang der jährlichen Aluminiumproduktion von 190.000 auf 3,7 Mio. Tonnen führt. Insgesamt gehen in Australien rund 1.000 Arbeitsplätze verloren. Grund für die Schließung ist der Mangel an Renovierungsmöglichkeiten der Anlage. Die Investitionen dafür würden sich in Australien nicht lohnen. Alcoa kritisiert seit Langem den durch Überschüsse belasteten globalen Aluminiummarkt.
Bloomberg.com berichtet heute, dass auch der russische Aluminiumproduzent seine Produktion senken werde. Die Produktion soll demnach noch rund 3,5 Mio. Tonnen/Jahr erreichen, zehn Prozent weniger als noch 2013.
Im vergangenen Jahr, so Rusal, sei die weltweite Aluminiumnachfrage um sechs Prozent auf 51,7 Mio. Tonnen gestiegen, Chinas Nachfrage stieg dabei um 13 Prozent. Auch in diesem Jahr soll das Nachfragewachstum bei sechs Prozent liegen. Die Tonne Aluminium klettert heute in London um 0,9 Prozent auf 1.765 USD.

Langfristige Angelegenheit
Es scheint mir so, dass die Abnehmer die Preise mit Absicht nach unten drücken. Eine Tsunami-Einkaufswelle ist zwar noch nicht im Sicht aber ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass das Alu in der nahe Zukunft an der Bedeutung für Industriebranchen verliert. Ich bin gespannt, wenn die bereits eingekauften Ressourcen knapp werden und plötzlich die Kapazitäten nicht ausreichend werden. Ein Werk kann man zwar einfrieren/schließen aber ob der Kaltstart von heute auf morgen möglich ist?!.

Was heißt möglich
Alu wird in der Verarbeitung ja großteils gepresst oder gegossen. Da sollten ganze Werke innerhalb weniger Tage wieder normal anlaufen können. Die Frage ist eben, wie man die ganzen Anlagen hegt und pflegt.
Es wird ziemlich sicher hier bei uns immer weniger an Wert gewinnen, zumal es doch ein eher ungesundes Material ist. Carbon und div. Kunststoffe überschwemmen den Markt die letzten Jahre komplett, dass merkt man aber auch bei Stählen / Metallen.
Alu hat jedoch seine gewissen Vorzüge die es in gewissen Angelegenheiten unverzichtbar machen. Leichtbau ist immer ein wichtiges Thema, ebenso wie Forschung und Entwicklung. Dort und da wird Aluminium immer benötigt und verwendet werden.
Ganz ganz ganz langfristig gesehen - und da sehe ich nun mal speziell auf den Sektor Raumfahrt etc. werden die speziellen Aluminium-Legierungen immer wichtiger.

The Company announces that, on 26 February 2014, the Company as borrower and Sberbank of Russia entered into an agreement in order to open an additional limit of RUB2.4 billion ("Additional Limit") in connection with fulfillment of obligations under the put option of the Ruble bonds issued by OJSC "Rusal Bratsk" (series 07), which is due on 3 March 2014 (as disclosed in the announcements of the Company dated 3 May 2010, 24 May 2010, 14 February 2011, 16 February 2011, 2 March 2011, 17 February 2014 and 21 February 2014) ("Sberbank Amendment Agreement"). The Additional Limit is provided under the non-revolving credit facility agreement dated 1 December 2011 at the amount of RUB18.3 billion ("Non-revolving Credit Facility Agreement No 5446") as disclosed in the Announcement.
