SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 2 (Reuters) - Wireless networking equipment maker Proxim Corp. (NasdaqNM:PROX - News) said Thursday it has agreed to amended terms of a $30 million investment deal with Warburg Pincus and Broadview Capital Partners.
The Sunnyvale, California-based company had announced in July that it had secured the $30 million investment.
As part of the amended deal, Proxim said that the $30 million in secured promissory notes being issued to Warburg Pincus and Broadview would be amended to extend the due date from December 31, 2003 to September 30, 2004.
Terms providing for the automatic exchange of those notes into Proxim shares would also be modified to allow for exchange at the sole discretion of investors, upon shareholder approval.
Proxim also said that the investors had agreed to make an additional $10 million available to it, issuable in exchange for additional secured promissory notes.
Proxim was not immediately available to discuss how the amended terms would change the size of the stake Warburg Pincus and Broadview could ultimately hold in Proxim. Under the deal announced in July, the two investment firms were set to increase their stake in the company to 44 percent.
Warburg Pincus and Broadview currently hold a stake of about 24 percent in Proxim, resulting from a $75 million investment a year ago.
Proxim said it would amend an October 7 shareholders meeting to consider the investment deal until late October or early November.
