Eritrean Suspension Lifted and Work to Resume

Sub-Sahara is pleased to announce that the suspension order, dated 2nd September 2004, to cease exploration activity in Eritrea, has been lifted by the Minister of Energy and Minerals and work on the Asmara and Zara Projects can resume immediately.

In a cordial meeting with the Minister of Energy and Minerals in Asmara on Friday 14th January, the Minister explained that the government had completed a detailed review of the Mining Proclamation (Mining Act) and that contrary to speculation, no changes will be made to the law. However, the optional equity participation of the government with respect to mining operations would increase from 20% to 30%.

Sub-Sahara and joint venture partner Sunridge Gold Corp. will immediately commence planning activities on the high grade Debarwa copper gold deposit and other targets within the 1,100km 2 Asmara project and further information will be released to shareholders over the coming weeks.

Barrick Media Statement regarding Nyanzaga
Joint Venture

Joint Venture partner Barrick Exploration Africa Limited (BEAL), has stated to
the North America media "that it has completed 24 pre-collared core holes
testing the Tusker prospect situated within the Nyanzaga Project in Tanzania.
The BEAL drilling totalling 8,368 metres has confirmed the broad, low grade
gold mineralization intersected by previous drilling with holes intersecting
greater than 50 metres (true width) of visually mineralised core extend over
500 metres of strike and 400 metres depth.

The southern extension is overlain by a barren / weakly mineralised magnetic
siltstone unit up to 300m thick. Mineralisation is exposed in the northern
part of the trend.

Assay results are pending for the majority of the drill holes, but
intersections to date include:

DDH21 313m (down hole depths) @ 1.17g/t Au (30g/t top cut; 0.5g/t cut-off but
includes zones of internal dilution up to 9m wide).

Preliminary metallurgical tests suggest good recoveries in both the oxide and
primary mineralisation.

Five core rigs are currently active and will continue drilling into December.
An infill program will be conducted in the first half of 2006".

BEAL has the right to earn 70% of Sub-Sahara´s interest by completing a
bankable feasibility study and Sub-Sahara will retain a 27.3% contributing
interest at that time.

http://www.subsahara.com.au/pages/asx/2005/07dec2005_zara_results.html

ZARD003, the third of 4 diamond drill holes at the Koka prospect (Zara Gold Project) in Eritrea, has returned further, multiple high grade gold intercepts (Table 1) to add to those achieved in ZARD002, with a best intercepts of:

• 4 metres @ 34.7g/t gold
• 5 metres @ 13.95g/t gold
• 8 metres @ 6.62 g/t gold &
• 8 metres @ 11.49 g/t gold

Koka Prospect

Hole ZARD003 was drilled to a depth of 163.9 metres approximately 160 metres to the south of ZARD002 and 300m to the south of ZARD001. The hole intersected a similar zone of hydrothermal alteration characterised by carbonate/sericite/chlorite alteration, silicification and sulphidisation, as that intersected in ZARD002. In addition, anomalous values for copper, lead and zinc are associated with the high grade gold intercepts could indicate a possible volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) origin to the mineralisation.

Drilling of hole ZARD004, located approximately 140m south of ZARD003 has commenced with assay results not expected until early in the New Year.

Konate Prospect

Over the next week, drilling is expected to commence at Konate, situated approximately 4km along strike from Koka (Figure 1). Konate is the second drill target in a series of identified targets with artisanal workings extending over 300 metres and returning rock chip sample results up to 950g/t gold. Results from this drilling are not expected until early 2006.

Results from 3 rock chip samples from a new area midway between Koka and Konate returned one sample of 11.38 g/t gold and geological mapping to better define this area will commence in the New Year.

Sub-Sahara ist in guter Gesellschaft Sub-Sahara ist in guter Gesellschaft! Nevsun, ein

Nevsun updated study boosts resources at Bisha deposit
2006-01-10 19:45 ET - News Release

UPDATED RESOURCE STATEMENT FOR THE BISHA DEPOSIT IN ERITREA

Nevsun Resources Ltd. has provided updated independent resource estimate for the Bisha volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit in Eritrea. The 2005 Bisha resource statement will be incorporated into the final Bisha feasibility study.

A scoping study on the Bisha deposit, using the 2004 resource statement, was released by AMEC Americas Ltd. in December, 2005. The robust economic results of this Bisha scoping study were released to the public on Dec. 9, 2005. A National Instrument (NI) 43-101 technical report and preliminary assessment for the Bisha project was filed on Dec. 30, 2005.

Highlights:

The noteworthy improvements between the 2005 Bisha resource statement (table 1) and the October, 2004, Bisha resource statement are:

the addition of the measured resource category;
an 8-per-cent increase in gold grade within the measured and indicated categories of the oxide layer and a 4-per-cent increase in the gold metal content to bring the total gold in the measured and indicated category to 1.084 million ounces;
a 14-per-cent increase in copper grade within the measured and indicated categories of the supergene copper horizon, and a 12-per-cent increase in copper metal content, to bring the total supergene copper in the measured and indicated category to 655.87 million pounds;
a 2-per-cent increase in zinc grade within the measured and indicated categories of the primary zinc (greater than 2.0 per cent zinc) body and a 4-per-cent increase in the zinc metal content to 1.74 billion pounds;
a 100-per-cent increase in tonnage in the inferred category to 11.726 million tonnes from the previous 5.85 million tonnes;
overall measured and indicated copper resources in the supergene and primary horizons now stands at 1,005 million pounds;
overall zinc resources (greater than 2 per cent) in the measured and indicated primary horizons now stands at 1,956 million pounds; and
the inferred resources category now contains 1.38 billion pounds of zinc and 235 million pounds of copper.

The 2005 Bisha resource statement is based on 347 diamond and nine reverse circulation precollar diamond drill holes covering a strike length of 1,200 metres and to depths varying from surface to 375 metres. No data from RC (reverse circulation) holes were used. (The October, 2004, Bisha resource statement was based on 310 diamond, nine reverse circulation precollar diamond drill holes and 33 reverse circulation holes).

This resource estimate was completed by AMEC, a major international engineering services company, and complies with the CIM (Canadian Institute of Mining Metallurgy and Petroleum) definition standards on mineral resources and mineral reserves, as required by National Instrument 43-101. The Bisha Main VMS deposit has three distinct mineralized zones, the near-surface oxide gold zone, a supergene copper zone and the primary sulphide zones.

AMEC has identified an additional noteworthy mineral resource within the primary horizon that contains greater than 0.5 per cent copper but less than 2 per cent zinc that was not included in the 2004 resource statement. This has added significant tonnage and contained metal to the resource statement.

A more-complete breakdown of resource categories as they relate to tonnage, metal content and grade and a comparison with the 2004 resource calculation can be observed on the Nevsun website.

Estimation methodology

This resource model was created using industry standard techniques. The block grades were estimated within domains based on interpretation of geologic parameters logged in drill holes. Sectional spacings of 12.5 metres to 25 metres were used for the basic interpretations. The sectional interpretations were subsequently rationalized in plan. Solid (wireframe) models were created from these and became the basis for coding the block model. Grades were estimated using multiple passes of ordinary kriging with search neighborhoods conforming to the geological trend and geostatistical properties of the deposit. All assays with less than 60 per cent core recovery were removed from the database.

Restriction of extreme grades was used to remove metal at risk as derived from analyses of the assay distributions. The metal at risk analysis is essentially a Monte Carlo simulation study, the output of which is an amount of metal deemed to be at a sufficiently high risk to be removed from the resource. High-grade search restrictions were employed to remove the metal, helping to ensure that model grades and tonnages will be realized during mining. Calibrated in the measured and indicated blocks of the model, approximately 8 per cent of the gold in the oxide horizon, 3 per cent of the zinc in the primary zinc domain, 20 per cent of the silver in the oxide horizon and 5 per cent of the copper in the supergene horizon was removed.

Bulk density in the oxide zones was estimated by averaging the measurements from within the modelled mineralization zones. Within the supergene and primary zones, multiple regression was used to establish a relationship between specific gravity determinations and iron, copper, lead, zinc, sulphur and barium analyses. This relationship was then applied to the model blocks.

Variography and confidence limit analyses were used in conjunction with confidence in geological modelling and database integrity to develop resource classification criteria. Measured resources were defined by drill holes spaced 25 metres apart on 12.5-metre-spaced sections. Those portions of the resource drilled with holes spaced 25 metres apart on 25-metre-spaced sections were classified as indicated. Inferred resources were defined to be the remainder of the resource within 50 metres of drilling. All categories of resource material were restricted to the geologically interpreted mineralization domains.

The geologic model was formulated by Nevsun under the supervision of Bill Nielsen, PGeo, Nevsun's vice-president of exploration. Geologic modelling was completed by Nevsun and AMEC. The Bisha quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program used to monitor the accuracy of the assay database was reviewed and verified by AMEC's qualified person, Douglas Reddy, PGeo. Mr. Reddy made a site visit to the Bisha property in May, 2004. Resource modelling was carried out using Gemcom software by Steve Blower, PGeo, of AMEC who is also the qualified person (QP) for the resource model.

Additional resource potential and future work

Not included in the above resource tabulations are areas of additional resource potential. A widespread zone of mineralization consisting of disseminated copper sulphides in oxidized and acidified rocks has also been identified approximately 250 metres into the hanging wall (west) of the Bisha Main deposit. Examples of this disseminated style of mineralization include holes such as B-111 that encountered 39 metres grading 1.08 per cent copper and B-87 that intersected 31.5 metres assaying 1.44 per cent copper.

SGC has earned a 40% interest in the project and is currently funding exploration through to completion of a feasibility study to earn an additional 30% interest in the project. Africa Wide Resources Limited (AWR ), holds the remaining 12% interest in the joint venture and has also received notification from SGC of its intention to exercise the option agreement that it has with SGC for its interest in the Asmara JV.

The exercise purchase price of the interest is to be the Fair Market Value (FMV) negotiated and agreed by the parties. The FMV is to be satisfied by the issue to SBS of shares in SGC.
In the event that the parties agree on a FMV, then SBS will be required to gain the approval of shareholders in General Meeting to a proposed disposal in accordance with ASX Listing Rules. Any transfer of interest arising from the option exercise will be subject to the consent of the Eritrean Minister of Mines.
The terms and conditions of the option agreement governing the conduct of negotiations and FMV in summary are:
a) the FMV of the tenements shall be a negotiated and agreed value between SGC and SBS to be concluded within 10 business days of the exercise of the purchase option.
b) In the event that the parties cannot agree on the FMV as above, then the parties shall within 20 business days of the notice of purchase, commission an Independent Expert experienced in such matters to determine the FMV of the Tenements and to provide a Valuation Report prepared in accordance with the VALMIN Code within 30 days of receipt of the commission or, within such other period as the parties may agree, that must be accepted by both parties.
c) If the parties cannot agree on the person to be appointed as the Independent Expert within 20 days, the parties (or one of them) must forthwith request the President of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy to nominate an Independent Expert who shall determine the FMV and generate a Valuation Report of the FMV in accordance with the VALMIN code that must be accepted.

The number of SGC shares that may be issued under the option agreement will be based on the 20 previous days weighted average trading price of the shares of SGC on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) calculated back from the day the notice of Purchase was given. The notice was given on 13 January 2006 and the average weighted share price based on the above formula is C$1.835 per share.

SGC is a TSX listed company and is in essence a single project company with its predominant focus on the Eritrean Asmara Joint Venture in which its has earned a 40% interest. It has a market capitalisation of C$63,652,487(as at 13 January 2006). It has 28,416,289 shares on issue and its shares last traded at a price of C$2.24 on 13 January 2006 on a volume of 430,194 shares for the day. Mr Michael Griffiths the CEO of SBS was appointed to the board of SGC in 2004 and pursuant to the Option Agreement an additional director may be appointed to the board of SGC by SBS/AWR when the transaction has been settled.

At this stage the Directors of SBS are unable to make any further comments until they have met with the directors of SGC and concluded the negotiations pursuant to the terms of the Option Agreement. Once a FMV is determined, then SBS will provide full details to shareholders and convene a general meeting of shareholders to enable them to consider and vote on the transaction.
