“Market conditions are not ideal”, says Mark Smith, the chief executive of Niocorp. “It’s the worst I’ve seen in 34 years I’ve been in the business. But a robust economic project that people believe in will find the financing.”
In some circles, talking about “robust economics” is becoming a hackneyed old phrase.
Here though, the context is different. The operative part of the phrase isn’t the robustness, but that people believe in the project in question.
One of the hallmarks of Niocorp, the way Mark tells it, is its good relations with the local community in Nebraska, a US state with precious little mining to its name, but which is keen in the name of “robust economics” to get more.
This is not a state that romanticises its land to the point where it becomes economically sterile.
On the contrary, it wants entrepreneurial companies to come along with ideas for sensible and sustainable economic exploitation.
When they do they are positively embraced. To the point where opposition to Niocorp’s plans to develop a 27,000 tonnes per day niobium and scandium mine in the south-eastern corner of the state at Elk Creek has not merely met minimal resistance, but has actually met with no resistance at all.
“As far as we’re concerned we’re not aware of any opposition to the project”, says Mark.
“We’ve never been in any conflict with anyone there. We’ve built a very good reputation in the community for being honest. For not spinning or hyping. We tell them facts.”
The candour looks set to pay off, because not only is opposition non-existent, but permitting is non-existent too.
Or at least, that’s one way of looking at it.
“We believe a permit is not required”, says Mark. (The officiating body is the US Army Corps of Engineers.)
“We’ve filed an application to get their concurrence that we don’t need a permit, and they are finishing writing their report. We used two environmental consultants, but nothing is required. However, Niocorp as a company and me personally feel strongly that community and social relations is very important. So we hold regular town hall meetings and we meet with town hall officials.”
That the project is virtually without precedent in Nebraska seems to be working in the company’s favour, which wouldn’t necessarily be the case in other parts of the world.
But, says Mark, “the state of Nebraska is very conservative”. And, on reflection, you could hardly call the mining industry progressive.
The fit is good, now it’s up to Niocorp to get the project up and running and to repay the community’s faith by delivering the economic benefits that seem to be on offer.
The final pieces are falling into place now.
First off, there’s the leases.
“We’ve secured almost all the leases we need”, says Mark. “We have all the mineral leases. And we’re pretty proud in terms of how we got that done. We did not pressure anyone. We made very reasonable offers. Both parties were happy. Treating people honestly and fairly – that’s how we’re going to get this mine built.”
Capital markets, though, can be pretty amoral places, and it will be interesting to see how readily they respond to Mark’s faith that robust projects that people believe in can get financed.
“It’s an important moment for the company and for the community”, he says.
There’s a new economic model on the table which looks pretty attractive, albeit that it plugs in certain assumptions about future demand for niobium and scandium that will require the uptake of certain types of fuel cell technology to be strong.
In any event, the numbers will be tightened up before the end of the year, such that Mark is confident that he’ll be able to get the financing done in the first quarter of 2016.
The money will be sourced both from the USA and internationally, and the benefits will be spread around too.
Shareholders will get theirs of course.
But there’ll be something for the good folk of Elk Creek too.

Auf die Finanzierung bin ich gespannt. So wirklich kann ich es mir nicht vorstellen bei dem Chaos an den Rohstoffmärkten, dass die das geregelt kriegen. Die nächsten Monate werden wohl ziemlich stressig für alle Beteiligten, uns natürlich eingeschlossen.

Komme hier bestimmt noch viel,viel billiger wider rein. Hab drüben einige postings von < advocate> gelesen, und stimme ihm Oder ihr 100% zu. Hab keine Lust langsam mein Geld hier zu verbrennen. Und ich denke die Mehrzahl der hier teilnehmenden Kollegen hat keine Einschätzung über die Zeitschiene ( Investitionen ) bei Minen. Diese Einschätzung von mir hat sich

Niocorp ist noch nicht weit genug in der Planung um höhere Kurse generieren zu können. Einige Finanzierungsrunden würden vermutlich noch anstehen. Und wie so oft bei derartigen Projekten geht das meißt mit dilution sprich Verwässerung des Aktienkurses einher. Alles nur meine Erfahrung. Daher werde ich zu derzeitigen Kursen keinesfalls neu rein gehen. Die Lage werde ich in ca. 6 Monaten neu beurteilen. Danke, und ich hoffe doch den Einen oder Anderen hier mit einigen Hinweisen gedient zu haben. Falls dem nicht so ist bitte gerne Anfragen per PN.

sehr weit in diesem Jahr vorangekommen. Weiter als die meisten Explorer und im Niobium - Bereich gibts nicht viele. Nachbörslich kam eine weitere News über weitere Finanzierung zu guten 0,57 CAD. Wenn dann
noch weitere News kommen im Laufe des kommenden Jahres gehts schnell wieder hoch.

NIOCORP DEVELOPMENTS LTD. WINS CONDITIONAL TSX APPROVAL OF LIND PARTNERS' INVESTMENT AND CONFIRMS RECEIPT OF US$3 MILLION IN FIRST TRANCHE FUNDING
Niocorp Developments Ltd. has received conditional approval from the Toronto Stock Exchange of a definitive convertible security financing agreement with an entity managed by the Lind Partners, a New York-based asset management firm. The company also confirmed today that it has received an initial $3.0-million (U.S.) in first tranche financing from Lind.
Under the agreement, Niocorp expects to receive a total of $4.5-million (U.S.) in first tranche financing from Lind. In addition to the $3.0-million (U.S.) already transferred, $1.5-million (U.S.) is expected to be released from escrow pending certain conditions required to be satisfied by Dec. 31, 2015. Lind can increase the financing under the convertible security by an additional $1.0-million (U.S.) during its two-year term. Further, provided certain conditions are met, the company will have the right to call an additional $1.0-million (U.S.) under the agreement.
The agreement also provides for the issuance of a second convertible security on mutual agreement of the company and Lind, in which Lind would finance up to another $6.0-million (U.S.), which can also be increased by $1.0-million (U.S.).
Mark A. Smith, Niocorp's executive chairman, stated: "We are very pleased to have received the TSX's conditional approval of this financing and with the support we have received from Lind, which has allowed this package to move rapidly to closing. With funds already starting to flow, we are able to reaccelerate our work toward completion of a feasibility study, and we look forward to continuing to advance our Elk Creek project as rapidly as possible."
Jeffrey L. Easton, founder and a managing director of the Lind Partners, stated: "The fact that we were able to complete this transaction, in the midst of the holiday season, is a testament to the excellent working relationship developing with the Niocorp management team. We are off to a great start in helping to move this project to reality, and we look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the company and its owners."

bei meinen vorgesehenen Einstiegspreisen, +/- 0,70cad und0,40cad woran Ich eher glaube. Wie schon gesagt die Börse hat ihre eigene Gesetze!

ich akzeptiere durchaus eine Meinung von Dir. Unterschiedliche Meinungen machen diese Foren erst interessant . Bitte mal diesen Chart ansehen , NB Höchstkurs und
NB heute. Frage an die Kollegen, wer ist hier in mehr als 10 Jahren in mehr als 3 Minen oder Explorrn investiert?
dawürde ich mich doch sehr über eine ehrliche Antwort freuen.
Ich sehe trotz der neuen Finanzierungsrunde noch keinen Grund für kuzfrisig steigende Kurse. Das ist lediglich meine Meinung und kein predict.
Für angenehmen Meinungsaustausch bin reibungich immer gerne offen. Aber meine langjährige Erfahrung mit derartigen Explorern hat mich einer besonderen Vorsicht gelehrt.
In diesem Sinne danke ich für die Beachtung meiner Einwände hinsichtlich NB Kursberlauf. Aus Erfahrung sehe ich hier nochmals Kurse in der Gegend von 30-40 cents , allerdings erst wenn die endültigen Zahlen bzw die Timeline und auch eine neue FS irgendwann kommt.

Ausserdem sollte man sich nicht immer nur den 1-Jahreschart ansehen, sondern auch mal den 3 oder 5-Jahreschart. Im 3 oder 5-Jahreschart erkennt man schon einen Wertzuwachs von Niocorp, im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen Explorern.
