HOUSTON, July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rick's Cabaret International, Inc. (NasdaqGM:RICK) today reported nightclub revenues in its third quarter ended June 30, 2013 were $27.9 million, an increase of 18.4 percent over the $23.6 million reported in the same period last year.

The company said sales increases at its clubs in New York City and Minneapolis were significant compared with the same quarter last year, but the primary driver of the increase was the nearly $3.5 million contributed by the Jaguars club chain acquired in late 2012 and $1.1 million by the new Bombshells and Vee Lounge restaurant/nightclubs launched earlier this year in Dallas and Ft. Worth.
Revenues at clubs open for more than one year were $23.0 million, compared with $23.6 million in the same period last year, a decline of 2.4 percent.
"Same location sales are in line with our expectations," said Eric Langan, president and CEO of Rick's Cabaret. "The slightly lower comparative numbers are primarily a result of cutting back on certain marketing and discounting in several markets, which have also lowered our costs."
The company expects to announce its third quarter earnings on August 8, 2013.

(NasdaqGM:RICK), the publicly traded group of gentlemen's clubs, said today its subsidiary has extended an option to purchase the property at 50 West 33rd St. until August 9th while it works out contractual details to sell some of the air rights it is acquiring to a third party. The subsidiary has an agreement in place to purchase the property, which is the site of the company's flagship Rick's Cabaret/NYC adult nightclub.

Eric Langan, President and CEO of Rick's Cabaret International, Inc., said the subsidiary has received an offer to purchase two-thirds of the air rights over the building for $8 million.
The original contract for the subsidiary to purchase the property was extended after the owner agreed to finance the acquisition. The parties mutually agreed to the first extension at no cost to the Rick's Cabaret subsidiary while the parties worked to mitigate taxation issues. Subsequently, the subsidiary paid an additional $92,708 to extend the current term by 30 days.
Mr. Langan said the company will now enter into a modified lease-purchase option so that the air rights can be transferred in the most tax efficient method while still protecting the subsidiary's rights under the original agreement with the landlord.
"We are very pleased that we have received an offer for the air rights, which would lower our acquisition costs," said Mr. Langan. "The new structure would mean a savings of about $960,000 a year or $80,000 a month compared with the original financing terms."

The club, which has now received all relevant licenses from local and state regulators, is located at 1957 East Del Amo Blvd, Rancho Dominguez, CA, just north of Long Beach and convenient to the 405, 110, Gardena and Long Beach freeways. A grand opening weekend has been scheduled for September 19-21.

Vivid Cabaret/LA is operated by a subsidiary of Rick's Cabaret International, Inc. (NasdaqGM:RICK), the publicly traded group of gentlemen's clubs and restaurant/nightclub venues nationwide. Vivid Cabaret/LA is the first of two Rick's Cabaret clubs that will bear the Vivid Cabaret name. Scheduled to help celebrate the opening of Vivid Cabaret/LA on September 19th are Myla Sananaj, former girlfriend of basketball star Kris Humphries who is the star of a current best-selling Vivid video Myla Sananaj: The Anti-Kim XXX, and Sydney Leathers, who achieved celebrity status after a cyber-affair with former congressman/current New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner and who currently stars in Sydney Leathers: Weiner and Me from Vivid. On September 20th guests will get to meet the ever-popular adult star Tera Patrick and Vivid performer, Mia Malkova.
